Fugfessions of me

Ok, so they Fugged this dress today on Isla Fisher. And I must say I know its extrememly kooky, and a costume for her new Movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic, but I really like it! I will Disclaimer this by saying I do NOT like the snow leopard shoulder shrug, and I could give the gloves a miss, except I think they dress would look even kookier without them. Perhaps have them in pink!?
I will also interject here that I really like how Isla Fisher looks here, admittedly Wedding Crashers replayed on tv the other night, and who doesn't love her character in that. Anyone anyone? I hear nothing, ok accepted, Gloria is hilariously loveable. Motion Passed.

I don't often disagree with the Fug gurls, but sometimes, I just have to say, NO. As in, NO I DO like this outfit.
Which brings me to my secret.

Every year the Oscars roll around and they do "Best Dresses of the Oscars" and "Worst dresses of the Oscars" for all previous years. Every year without fail, on the Worst dressed list, Bjork's Swan dress makes an appearance, with a mention of the egg-bag.

{But I've always liked this dress!}
I know its weird and when she "layed" her egg it was bizarre and everything, but I've just always liked it!
*shame*
Maybe I'm losing my taste?

9 kindred spirits ~ This bugs them too!:

LOL I don't know how you could like that vile Swan thing, she and Helana Bonham Carter need to to be voted off the island, they are in the words of the fuggers BATSHIT CRAZY!!

I dont HATE the Isla Fisher thing but it does have elements of silliness... shrug aside.

I know! I'm sorry but I could hide it no longer!

I'm with you about HB-C though, thoroughly batshit crazy.

OMG I'VE ALWAYS LOVED THE SWAN DRESS!

I mean, I love Bjork, so that helps me along, but yeah I'm 100% behind you on this one Von. I have always been looking for that one other person in the universe who didn't think it was that bad - and it turns out to be you!

I think batshit crazy can sometimes be a good look.

(My hair is currently fluroescent orange... will have to send you a picture).

Also, I like the top dress too, but yes ditch the shrug and the gloves.

Sorry Re :)

The first time I saw that outfit I thought it was totally cute. Obviously not something to be worn In Real Life but y'know, cute and quirky. I can totally understand the Fug Girls perspective that they are trying to capitalise on SATC. I think that's true. But still...cute and flouncy!
And isn't picking on Bjork and HB-C just like shooting fish in a barrel? Newsflash world, they are quirky, that's their thing. Don't judge them against the Reeses and Renees and Nicoles, who totally care what we all think of what they're wearing. Good on them for not taking things like the Oscars too seriously!

Lou Yay! I'm so excited you share my view on this! A kindred Bjork spirit!

hahah here here non-Blondie,!! Let us praise their individuality!

I do think however we are in danger of screaming "SATC rip-off!!!" everytime something a bit fashionista like is worn on a tv series or movie however. This is mostly caused by the marriage of more outrageous than normal clothes + shot of NYC streetscape? Seriously, isn't that what implies the SATC link here?

ok its true, I'm not really a SATC fan OK.

Ok let it be said that I don't want to shoot individuality down in the street!
I am a SATC fan, I am waiting with breath baited for the movie!!
SJP traipsed around in some GODAWFUL outfits and only managed to pull them off because she was so tiny. Plaid skin tight bloomers would not work on anyone (ever) but somehow she worked them.
I get individuality BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN that you scramble to look different from everyone else and in the process end up looking like a tragic nutcase only to prove a point.
On the other hand if you are a tragic nutcase, ie Bjork this is fine and people expect you to turn up looking like an asparagus spear.

OK that dress actually reminds me of what Robert Jordan must have been thinking of when he wrote about ladies' dresses in Ebou Dar - anyone remember the 'multi-coloured petticoats' described?! Anyhoo. I don't mind this dress either, but if the top layer was black I'd like it more methinks. That's probably a given though. Swan dress was kind of cool- it surely had more of an artwork or costume-y appeal to it anyhow, rather than a plain old ballgown which is just horrible. Apples and Oranges. Helena Bonham Carter is allowed to be kooky too- I like half her clothes anyhoo. She is married to TIM BURTON however, so there's no excuse to be suprised at her left of centre approach, kids. The writing's on the wall there....

Last word, sorry Re but I thought for the most part that SJP wasn't actually 'pulling off' those hideous outfits. They were just hideous, IMHO. Frequently I thought perhaps the outfits were toungue in cheek, then they just kept coming, as did horrid 'haute couture' accessories and shoes that supposedly cost thousands. I've seen lovely Manolos and wonderful Jimmy Choos (in shops, of course!) but I've come to the conclusion that it must just be both SJP and the SATC stylists that had bad taste, as there's some lovely stuff out there if you want to spend exorbitant money on it. Why you'd have to buy the crap that Carrie always did on SATC is a mystery to me......

SO with you on the Ebou Dar-ness eca

Eeek Re I had no idea you were a closet SATC supporter! I feel dirty.
I'm with eca, I never thought she pulled them off. Just looked stupid. I think this is Zoe thingo's fault (the woman who was Nicole Richie's stylist)? But could be wrong. Its happened before when you're too lazy to Google.

Hahaha, asparagus spear.

eca I see what you're saying on the black overlay, and the fact that it's pink may be why I like it so much.

Yes I am a SATC fan out and proud!
I wanted the pink shoebox/weekend bag six season selection the moment it hit the stores but YES I hate what she wears but I am sure its all some crazy expensive shit like the D&G crystal panties she wore with a black bra and blue velveteen coat.
The stylist is Patricia Field a highly awarded crazy stylist and boutique owner who I am convinced loved dressing SJP in the teeny tiniest things she could find because she could.
I think that Zoe thing is solely responsible for fuggins, she has enough weighing on her soul lol
