Conundrum! HELP!

In a bit of a pickle at the moment. (lol pun)
The barista at my local work cafe has recommended a book to me which you may have noticed in the sidebar, Fit For Life. We were discussing eating habits one day after I asked if she would know how many calories are in one of her homemade muffins.
She then proceeded to tell me that she would lend me a book that had changed her life regarding her own eating habits. She doesn't really need to worry about her eating I should mention, she's training for a marathon so she can eat whatever she wants pretty much.
Anyway so she brought the book in, and I started reading it, except that I thought it was a bit hinky right away. The basic premise of the idea is that its not a fad diet, because "Diets don't Work" (give them credit, it was written in 1985) The cover of the one I have says
THE NATURAL BODY CYCLE, PERMANENT WEIGHT-LOSS PLAN THAT PROVES IT'S NOT WHAT YOU EAT, BUT WHEN AND HOW!!
It waffles on a bit about how its a way of eating for the rest of your life and then goes on to say you can only eat fruit before 12 noon and then mostly vegetables after. Hmm.....if it smells like a fad?
So I decided to Google it and find some more info, and found without any trouble a bunch of articles about how its all crap and its been debunked by Nutritionists and others in the field.. Eek!
So I'm not going to bother reading any more of it, but what do I tell my coffee friend now? How do I tell her the eating plan she revers so much is all hocus pocus?

6 kindred spirits ~ This bugs them too!:

Just give it back to her, thank her for the loan and that you found it very interesting.

The benefit of her merely being your coffee girl is that she's not really going to be around you to see what you're eating. If she really pins you down just tell her you're still researching the best course for you as you've read some conflicting information that you're sussing out. I think you're worrying way too much.

If all else fails, post the book back and chance coffee shops!

Hey K, I guess I'm more worried about her trying to have an in-depth conversation about the book with me.
I probably am looking way too into it.
And I can't change coffee shops! She's so good! Hahaha

Yes, finding a good barista is hard. If you ever do find one you need to stick with 'em 'cause there are lots of crappy ones out there! As you have realised...
So you can either lie of tell the truth.
If you lie you could say you're giving it a go. Then maybe after awhile if she asks tell her it didn't work for you.
Or just be honest and hope she takes it ok... but maybe don't be 100% honest, soften the blow a little. Like instead of saying "the book was total crap" just say "I don't think it's for me, I've already tried something similar..."

Ok, looking back on my answer basically both things I say are telling you to lie... sorry!

Maybe should you go all reverse-psychologic on her arse and kick off the in-depth conversation.

Sit her down and gravely explain that you are concerned for her health. Be prepared with information about how following such a stupid diet is bad for you etc etc.

It might work, or it might just be funny. Hehe.

No, seriously. If she starts up a conversation with you about it then just keep in non-comittal and tell her you're looking into it and change the subject. She should take the hint.

GOD looking at the cover just screams horror doesn't it!
While I agree on the thought that 'diets' are not the best way for your health, that you are better to change your eating habits, the whole rules on when and what to eat does set off little alarms!!
You could always be honest and say that you goggled it and it a hodge-podge of crap!!

I find that some nutritional advice can be a double edged sword, say eatting little meals more often. A good idea right?
Well yes, except that increases food acids in your mouth and breaks down enamel... what is one bloody supposed to do?
