We're going on holidays, did I tell you?

I woke up this morning, feel hungover, of all things. And yes, I do have the right day, its Monday. I haven't drunk any booze since Friday night, so I can only imagine it was severe dehydration, which even in itself, makes no sense, since I drank no less last night than any other night.
Odd.

We got a new laptop computer at home. Yay!
I wanted to take a picture with the webcam, and use it as the post, but I keep forgetting, getting distracted with all its other features. It has bluetooth, and a DVD drive, and a webcame built into the top of the screen. Its all very exciting. We've only had it a week, and its already got the majority of our CD collection on its hard-drive (160GB).
Woot.
So now I can blog from home again, whee! Our primary reason for getting it, other than the fact we were in need of a home computer, is that we're going to Europe in 9 weeks (Yes NINE WEEKS!) and we want to take it with us, so we can upload our photos as we go, and download our video and photos off the camera, making more space.
Our theory is that we're doing a bus tour, and then driving ourselves around, so it should be too painful to lug around.
Here's for hoping anyways :)

For those interested here is the bus part of our tour, in handy map form (I'm a pictures person)

I'm trying to get excited.
It was exciting when we decided to do it.
It was exciting when we put our deposit down.
It was less exciting and more stressful when we were frantically saving to pay the tour off in time for the early payment discount.
Now I'm trying to find the enthusiasm again. NOT to say that I don't want to go anymore, certainly not, more that it doesn't really feel like we're going, since we paid all the money, its just ...*gone*. Do you know what I mean?

So anyway, I'm hoping to blog while we're away, and not the "hey we saw the Eiffel Tower today, wow, its certainly huge hey?"
But more, about the little things, the coffee (of course), the weird customs, weird people, stuff like that.
Any thoughts? We've got plenty of time before we go remember :)

8 kindred spirits ~ This bugs them too!:

Don't want to rain on your parade or anything, but you do spend a lot of time *off* the bus on your bus tour.....so you'll spend a lot of time with your backpack on I reckon!

And oooooh coffee.....

And I totally bet you'll be having way too much fun to blog at all!

I did the computer thing for my trip coming up starting next week. I have a 2GB SD card for my camera, but have the lap top for reveiwing the pics for naming, when and were the picture's was taken.

You might grrrrrrr at this, but do you and M have a power inverter to recharge things on the go? If not picecomparison.com has a 90 Watt Targus Mobile Power Inverter for $28.00. I paid $40.00, but it works on the plane and in the car. Good to have when your on the go and WOW you guys are going places :))

Hey that's cool lou!! Just for a holiday? We've got an overnight stopover in Tokyo in the middle of our flight to London, so that will be exciting :)

Sorry re *head down*

Well thanks Eca. You HAVE rained on it. A veritable downpour. j/k. I won't be doing the backpack....M will be.... he's all strong and manly...

Hmm, possibly too much fun, but I don't want to desert the blog entirely!

e_add, you're going to Vietnam is it?
Yeah we got a giant memory card for the still camera, and extra batteries and stuff for the video camera, but I like your point that if you name them all as you go it can be easier.
Hmm, power inverter? Don't know. Will have to ask M, he's the tech man of this project. Which makes me the ?what? woman? They are pink and red respectively (the cameras) so perhaps I'm the stylist of the electronics?
;)

The weight of the batteries and the thought of the airlines not allowing us to carry extra ones (maybe 1 or 2? ). I need to give them a call and find out the nitty gritty details.

On the Vietnam flight (16 hours), is were the inverter is going to be handy for me. I check out my laptop battery life, only lasts for one hour playing a James Taylor DVD. This just isnt enough time scan pictures and label, even.

We are not planning on much driving there, but a lot of eating and visiting family. Its a family reunion, with 14 of us on the flight it will be fun. I heard about 18 more are coming in from France, its going to be crazy.

I'm so very jealous. You'll have an awesome time.

My bestie just got back from an 11 month working holiday in the UK. She had a blast. Rather than lug around a laptop they just blogged via myspace (not that you'd need to use that) at Internet cafes. Double bonus - not having to worry about losing the laptop.

Have an Awesome time!!

Hmmm I wallow in my vapidness Re. Vapidity?

Hmmm, e_add well that would be a little weird, the airlines not allowing you to take them. Surely if you packed them in your hand luggage?
Ahhhh, I don't know if we'll use ours on the plane, its more for when we're going around.
14 people you know on the plane!? That will be fun! France? What heritage do you have? I assumed Vietnamese if you were reuniting there...but maybe not?

Awww, no need for that K ;)
My sister has been O/S for a few years also, Eca, and she used internet cafes initially but from other peoples tales I didn't want to have to rely on finding them and stuff. Also because there's 2 of us, I think the laptop idea might work a bit better.
Thanks :)
