Less Sugar sometimes does = less taste

This is my favourite yoghurt right now. Billed as "yogurt's 'holy grail', Dairy Farmers Thick & Creamy uses a special technique that milk companies have been trying to uncover for years.

The result is a great tasting yogurt that is truly thick and creamy!" I must say, the marketing is true here IMO (in my opinion). It really is very thick compared to most low fat yoghurts, and its delicious. So being food-what-goes-in-gob-conscious I was pleased to see that this same yoghurt comes in a "60% less sugar" version also.So.Crap.
I found it entirely inedible, literally had to bin it, which was massively disappointing. Usually when food is reduced fat, the sugar increases (not with EVERY product of course) at least a little. This obviously has some sort of artificial sweetener in it, and it left this horrid after taste.

*sigh*
60% less sugar, 90% less taste.

8 kindred spirits ~ This bugs them too!:

ew I so know what you mean. Sweetness doesn't equal taste, food making people! I tried eating pro-biotic yogurts for a while, but I actually had to force them down because they were so revoltingly sweet and fake tasting. Now I'm back to the natural and tasty ones...so much better! They may not be as 'healthy', but honestly, are artifical sweeteners more healthy for you than a little fat?

Sad but true! And things like yogurt do not benefit from addition of artifical sweetners.
I am torn here, the two BEST yogurts IMO are Jalna and King Island. None of this Yoplait shit, they are the equivilant of Cadbury.
Jalna premium range is TO DIE FOR.
Natural Vanilla with a hint of cinnamon *DROOL*
But they also do a low fat and no fat version.
But I am afraid that KI don't fffus around with low fat versions, alot like thier Brie!

Why were you particularly trying to eating Pro-biotic for non-blondie? A lot of those "beneficial bacterias" can be found in other yoghurts (in Oz anyways) if you read the labelling. I can't eat like Akkari or the weird ass brands, but Vaalia has all those beneficial bacterias too? It comes in Light also.

Hmm, I've heard of Jalna's brilliance Re but I just can't bring myself to eat it. Hahahahaha no I can't see King Island bothering with low fat.
And whats wrong with Yoplait? I like Yoplait thanks very much!

Mmmm Brie...

I love yogurt.

Write to the manufacturer and express your displeasure. You might get free stuff! (hopefully not free low fat yuk stuff)

I'm with Re. Jalna and King Island or nothing.

Oh, man. Re, try the KI, with toasted museli (the Carmen's nut one is good), with a little bit of milk and maple syrup on top. OMFG. So good.
