Posted in Addicted2Wii, Food=Fat=Treadmill, HomeLife on 11:59 AM by- Yoga Poses - As the name suggests these are a series of Yoga stretches and poses where you focus on keeping your centre whilst holding the pose.
- You stand on the "Wii Balance Board" (wiiBB) while you do the pose, and focus on breathing. You accrue points for how well you can keep still and keep your centre whilst in the pose.
- I've unlocked I think 8/12 poses so far. (and not this one!)
- Muscle workouts - These are kind of aggressive stretches and exercises and are quite similar to some of the stuff I was doing at the gym. There are things like Lunges, Sideways Leg Lifts, Press-ups and sit-ups.
- You can do little "workouts" by doing 1 x Yoga Pose and 1 x Muscle Workout as suggested by your trainer. Also using the wiiBB, but you may be standing, or balancing on one leg, or have your hands on it (press ups) or resting your feet (sit-ups).
- Points are accrued by how steady you keep your body whilst doing the exercise, and as I learnt, if you step off the board when you're not meant to (giving up) you get 0 points :(
- I think I've unlocked 8/15 and there are "challenges" which I'm a bit afraid of...
- Aerobic Exercises - These are fun, and can be quite hard work! A very funny one is Hula-Hooping, which involves standing on the wiiBB and rotating your hips, which can be hilarious when watching others give it a "whirl"
- There's also a Step-class type game, which I haven't quite figured out how to be "good" at. Clearly has nothing to do with real step classes, of which I've done heaps, and hubby M has done none, but he has a higher score than me! This one you "step" on and off the wiiBB in time to what it tells you, and in specific directions.
- I've also got a Boxing exercise which uses the "nun-chuk" so you're punching with both hands. You box a punching bag, in the set patterns it gives you, stepping on and off the wiiBB appropriately. Can't figure out the scoring system on this one either, might be as simple as landing all the punches?
- Balance Games. This is the best section, as it combines all the things you're meant to be "learning" in games. You might have seen some of them in action, or maybe not.
Soccerball-heading. Standing on the wiiBB, you shift your body from left to right to "head" the approaching soccer ball. For spectators the enjoyment comes from the other objects that fly toward your head, such as Panda heads and soccer boots. You lose points for getting hit with anything but a ball, and get more points for heading consecutive soccer balls. Great fun.- There are other ones, a great one where you have to tilt a table top to roll and ball around, a snowboard slalom course where you spin the wiiBB around and shift your weight around, I am RUBBISH at the slalom courses (also a ski one).

Woot Woot! I bought these at the Fruit Shop near work today! So excited.
I previously blogged about the lack of Pop Tart action in Oz So very pleased to know they are available again. Nothing like not being able to have something to make you want it!

Posted in Bras+Boobs, DD~Dilemmas, Food=Fat=Treadmill on 8:00 AM byThe last time I was fitted we worked out was a year ago, at a friends party, and I'm pretty sure I was sized correctly at the time. I was expecting slight variation, but essentially the same. Possibly a little smaller around the rib cage since I shed some of the dreaded "back fat".
*This post is also posted at DD Dilemmas, a blog I started for reviewing Bra's : sizes D Cup and up, for the fuller busted in the world.

It arrived and it didn't fit because I'd gotten fat, which was a bit devastating to say the least. I distinctly remember struggling to do the dress up and M standing behind me wrestling with the upper clasp (the part across the middle of the back does up like a bra) and I said to him "Will it do up?" and he replied "I don't know if you want it to do up" (Ma, these straps, ya look like a HAM)
(I went to show M in the lounge room, and he looked up from the computer saying "where are you going?" LOL)
Now I just need an occassion hahahaha
I've noticed actually a shift in the clothes I've worn this winter. Last winter I weighed a good 6-8kgs more than I do this year, and I realise in hindsight I was wearing a different set of clothes, lots of empire line/tummy hiding type tops, which I just haven't worn this year.
Pretty happy all round :)
I'm kind of thinking I'll lose/maintain my weight while we're in Europe as well (due to all the walking and stuff) but possibly kidding myself?
(And I'm thinking of doing the Lemon/water thing again)

I finally managed to find them for sale at Dan Murphy's. First off I only bought two. One in Pine Melon (left) and one Orange Mango. There is also a Mixed Berry Flavour, but I just thought it had too much potential to be vile, so I skipped it.
I only bought one in each of my two flavours, (even though they cost the earth when you do it like that, its such a rip off) because I couldn't face the thought though of them being horrid and being stuck with another three, so obviously I went in with high hopes.
So I went with Pine Melon first up. We had friends round, and we all clinked our (bottles) "cheers"! One sip- YUK.
The best way I can describe the flavour is "Midori Illusion with a chaser of Splenda"
EW! They fool you by making them pink, but they honestly taste like they should be green like Midori. Too sweet, and where was the Pine!?
Overall I shoved it down my throat, but there will be no repeat performance I'm afraid. Our friends had been kind enough to bring Guava with them, and I was so afraid of the Orange Mango I stuck to Guava for the rest of the evening.
Thumbs down I'm afraid...

Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill, Lemon Detox Diet, Tania_Zaetta on 4:33 PM bySix months ago I did a post on whether Lemons were the answer. Now someone hasn't done their homework at the Daily Telegraph and is trying to make it sound like Tania Zaetta has only JUST become a spokeperson for this product.
Piffle.
*nb, the entire point of the lemon post was that I would attempt to boost my metabolism by drinking lemon in water first thing in the morning.
Sadly, I never even managed ONE glass of the stuff. Oh how quickly we fail.....LOL

I am struggling lately, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Its cold, its wet* and rainy, and going to the gym isn't high on the priority list right now. My utmost sympathies to Fiona down in canberra, apparently its 3 degrees down there. YUK!So yes, the snowy pic above is a gross exaggeration, I'm probably only going to encounter sub-10 degree temperatures if I want to venture out after work to go the gym. It is Sydney after all.
But I've been trying to go. I even managed to go before work the other week. Its got to be at least 12 degrees in my bedroom in the morning right? How can I be expected to get up in that? hahaha.
Another difficulty I've faced is not entirely unexpected. Compliments.
Yep, you heard me. I'm a strange and twisted beast, that rather than feeling re-inspired by compliments, I feel more inclined to slack off. The fruits of my labour two months ago have started to take effect it appears, in the form of a slightly more trim physique, and loss of some (not all) of the dreaded back fat. I am re-claiming my waist!
So I've had a couple of people make a small remark about it, you know, you're looking good/you've lost weight etc. (Aside- Funny how people always say diplomatically "you look really good!" with a bright smile, when we all know they mean have you lost weight. All we can do is take it on the chin, and say thank you, and feel rewarded for our efforts. LOL)
Anywho, so my efforts have been noticed, and as a result, I'm slobbing around a bit more! Damn! This is not the desired effect! I should be thinking "Yay It's working! Go and burn more calories and you'll look even better!" but, no.
Instead my brain tells me "Nah you've done some good work, you earned that donut. Yes, wash it down with a sugary soft drink, and how about those Twisties, you earned them too..."
So now I'm trying to focus a bit on how good exercising makes me feel, and how I feel less tired all the time when I do.
I must not fall off the wagon this winter! Who's with me!?!
For those of you playing at home
Shitty nights sleep and more coffee shop capers
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill, HomeLife, I'm~a~coffee~wanker, TEAtime on 11:17 AM byMy fitful night led to some intense, very weird dreams, but I can't remember them now. Should have written a few key words down. Something about a ravine...
Monday night is chocka block at the gym. I don't normally get to go on a Monday, we have dinner at my mother-in-laws normally on Monday nights. I do think its a great way to kick off the week however.
I've increased my tea and coffee consumption through the work week I've noticed. Since I gained access to a plunger at work, I normally have at least one coffee, and one cup of tea. I would have said before now, that average tea/coffee consumption was only one macch, first thing in the morning. Occasionally I would mosey over to the cafe for another coffee, or a hot chocolate, but these instances were few and far between.
I'm wondering if the added milk and sugar are affecting me, even though I only ever have skim + 1.
Coffee Lady accidentally made an enemy last week. She asked me to "have a quiet word" with my boss about the fact that he'd forgotten to pay for his coffee and toast as he was chatting with a friend while he was in the cafe. I instantly forgot of course, so when she asked me the next day what his response had been (as he didn't come in to settle the matter), I smacked my forehead and proclaimed I would "go straight back" and discuss it.
When I mentioned it to him however, he blew up, saying he did pay, and starting spouting some righteous indignation that he'd been so good to her, helping her in her personal life, not taking the free coffees that the loyalty cards are for. He gave me the money to pay her, vowing not to take his patronage there again however.
And I guess yes, when I think about it, she's essentially saying she thinks he's the sort of guy who would just walk out without paying, happy to fleece her.
She recently put her prices up, and my coffee went up by 10c. Prices increased Monday, but as I'd had an appointment, I trundled over none-the-wiser on Tuesday morning, short the 10c when I went to pay. So instead of saying "no don't worry about it, just pay the increased amount from tomorrow" she added me to a long list of 10c here, 20c there "payments owed" on the wall.
She's a funny bird, for someone who has the shop littered with "good Karma" concepts and life and love giving mantras; she's tight as a ducks asshole.
Free! No wait, still need to pay, but not pay as in the HIPS...or thighs, or back fat...
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill, party-fun-ness on 4:55 PM by"Finally!" I thought! The manufacturers have caught up to the consumer demand. Long have we wanted such a product for us figure-conscious-alco's.
Personally I prefer not to drink my entire days calories on a night out, if I can avoid it. So yay for Sugar Free initiatives. (Cruisers aren't the first around however, the first ones I can think of were Archer's Spri (151 Calories in a bottle), Archer's being Schnapps. I always thought they were kind of....gross.
And of course just about anything that mixes with Coke now has a Coke Zero/sugar free version available.
So, while I've seen advertising for these new Free things, I can't actually find anywhere to buy them. I've left a message with someone called Martin at Independent Distillers for feedback on when I can expect to see them instore. Yay.
(Hilarious after I left my details with the receptionist, she inquired "what company are you from", I replied "oh nowhere, I'm just a person, wanted to drink your product"
Lets play, list the flavours. I'm a fan, but even I didn't realise there were more than ten flavoursSo let's try to list them from L-R in the picture above. For a better image, try the site.
- Lurid Pink- This is cranberry and lime I think, and it wasn't bad from memory. I think it may have tasted a little like drinking jelly snakes though. I know one of the newer flavours did. (Or was that the horrid WKD product....?)
- Dark Red- ??
- Peachy - ???
- ICE. Speaks for itself.
- White- LEMON. Both this and ICE are just ripping off the flavour of good ole Stoli (220 calories/bottle)
- Yellow I - PINEAPPLE. Good, I like. I prefer a Bacardi Breezer in Pineapple though. They aren't QUITE as sweet.
- Yellow II -PASSIONFRUIT.
- Orangey - Orange??
- Pink- My fave, GUAVA
- Orange/Red - ???
- Red- RASPBERRY ick makes your mouth look like you knocked your teeth out.
- Pale Green - LEMON/LIME (I'm pretty sure)
- Green - MELON ick, too sickly sweet. The pineapple in a Midori splice/illusion (200 calories/bottle)balances out the overly sweetness in Melon Liqueur drink IMO.
- Blue- BLUEBERRY- ick. Makes your mouth blue.
Yay for new flavours!
Working out is hard to do
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill on 9:33 AM by
I have two nemeses at the gym. These girls both intimidate and annoy me. My gym isn't a Fitness First type gym. My gym is more of a middle-aged-women-trying-to-work-their-asses-off (literally) & tired-over-worked-business-men-trying-to-get-rid-of-their-beer-bellies. With a dash of oldies-staying-in-shape for good measure. Then she switches to the Cross-trainer (aka elliptical) and goes at level 12 for another 20 minutes at 11 km/h, before hitting the bike for 45 minutes at a level of 15 with RPM 95. She's a machine! To her credit, she looks like she's been working her ass off for a while now.
I think one of the most annoying things about groups at the gym, is that I think working out is a fairly solitary activity. As long as everyone sticks to the rules, it works. I move from this machine after my reps, to that machine over there, and someone else who has been eyeing off my machine slips into where I was, and so-on and so-forth.
These....groups...monopoloise all the machines at once, and they move between the same three over and over. So someone like me, can't break into their little circuit they've created to get my own fifteen goddam reps done.
Bah!
Feeling great about my gym attendance though. Sort of feel....lighter. Not neccessarily losing-weight wise, but in general, feeling good and stuff. Onward and upward!
*I think I may have possibly nicked this term from another Blog, but I can't remember which one, and so, can't remember who to credit.
Biggest Losers lovers?
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill, PopCulture on 11:49 AM byClearly between the two of them it must have had some effect, because the week it "came out" on the show was Sheridan's last, and then supposedly in heartbreak Michael was out the next week (from memory).
So I was shocked to discover the article was about a supposed romance between Big Garry and Carianne! (one of the twins)
(hey Garry, whats with the Shirt promoting chips?)
He'll be beating them off with a stick now!

Less Sugar sometimes does = less taste
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill on 8:34 PM byThe result is a great tasting yogurt that is truly thick and creamy!" I must say, the marketing is true here IMO (in my opinion). It really is very thick compared to most low fat yoghurts, and its delicious. So being food-what-goes-in-gob-conscious I was pleased to see that this same yoghurt comes in a "60% less sugar" version also.So.Crap.
I found it entirely inedible, literally had to bin it, which was massively disappointing. Usually when food is reduced fat, the sugar increases (not with EVERY product of course) at least a little. This obviously has some sort of artificial sweetener in it, and it left this horrid after taste.
*sigh*
60% less sugar, 90% less taste.
Food glorious food.
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill on 4:18 PM byLast Day, thank goodness
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill on 10:41 AM byWeighed myself this morning, and I was on the same weight as the previous day, but decided to jump off, and jump on again on the off chance that the scales were incorrect.
After weighing myself again twice after that, I got a different result, which showed me having lost 2 kgs. (I checked and re-checked this figure, but it didn't change after this)
So maybe they were wrong yesterday and I shouldn't have been so discouraged. And possibly eaten KFC chips.
So I had my last soup-breakfast this morning, I poked it down my (sore?!?) throat, and I will have steamed vegetables and soup for dinner {we won't talk about lunch}, while baking ANZAC biscuits for tomorrows occassion. I will be strong and not eat any mixture, though it will be tough.
Mum says not to go nuts after we're off it, because there can be flow on losses and if we're good, we can lose another few kilos next week too, even off the soup. I think we'll be eating soup for a few days more though {with the addition of some less shit vegetables and possibly mini pasta}, the second batch has gone much...slower...than..the..first...pot...
{Due to irrational hating of soup I'm sure}
I'm really looking forward to breakfast tomorrow morning though. Bring on the eggs. Mmmm.
Struggling...struggling bad
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill, HomeLife on 9:58 AM byTotally caved last night. M & I worked a function (occassional work we do for cash), we knew it would be tough, the food always looks great. So we ate our soup before we left and we were allowed a big baked potato with butter.
Couldn't resist though, in the end I ate 4 salt & pepper squid pieces, 3 BBQ Meatballs, 2 mini pizzas and 1 mini samosa. No pies or quiches at least. *sigh*
Back to the soup.
Soup Diet
Posted in Food=Fat=Treadmill, HomeLife, TEAtime on 10:59 AM byMade the soup last night, and how satsifying is chopping vegies! So much precision! So much fun!
Ok thats mad, I know, but I actually quite enojyed it. The knives were sharp and watching my pot of soup grow, I felt a bit like the guy that created Frankenstein, but without the human robot crazy factor.
- Day 1 - Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today.
- Day 2 -All vegetables. Eat until you are full with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. A baked potato and dinner time with butter. Don’t eat any fruits through today.
- Day 3- Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato.
- Day 4 -Bananas and skim milk: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup.
- Day 5-Beef and tomatoes: you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today.
- Day 6 -Beef and veggies, eat to your heart’s content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.
- Day 7 Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies, until full (and eat the soup). You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish.
Only Drinks Allowed
- Unsweetened juices
- Tea (also herbal)
- Coffee
- Cranberry juice
- Skim milk
- Lots of water
I quite like soups like this, hope I'm not too sick of it at the end.
Here's the finished product -
I'll let you know how we go, the paperwork says you can lose between 10-17 lbs on it, which I think is between 4-8 Kgs. *shrug*
Wish us luck. Or thinness.
