WTF is a Jegging?????

Ummmmm......
Miss Selfridge online has things called Jeggings, which appear to be Jean Leggings.

(Flash picture,  go visit the website to see the Fugitude)

Who comes up with this crap!?!?!? And by giving it a name, don't we give it permission to stay?

It helps when you sleep with the creator

I think everyone always knew that Sarah Brightman only got to play Christine in the Phantom of the Opera because she was married to Anthony Warlow.
Here she is, driving that point home, at her Concert in Washinton DC. The immensity of the fug is awe inspiring. Amazing. And does anyone else look at this photo and think she looks like she is holding her right arm back behind her instead of gently floating her fingers forward?
Also, Andrew Lloyd Webber has announced he is making a sequel to Phantom. I just want to say here that I had that news earmarked for a post abut a year ago, but kept getting distracted and never wrote it. But I so already knew. So ner.

7 Deadly Sins (of Style)

As Per Trinny & Susannah
(Reproduced From Marie Claire April 08)

ENVY
aka "Stealing your Best Friends Style"
Everyone has one - a fashionable friend who just can't seem to put a Jimmy Choo clad foot wrong. But trying to copy a friend's entire style can have a disastrous result if you have different body shapes or colouring. "Its about dressing for YOUR body shape, not trying to emulate the style of someone else"
~
I admit I have to catch myself when admiring even some random girl on the street. If I realise I'm coveting he look primarily because she's got little boobs/20 kg lighter than me/cocoa-coloured skin, I have to stop looking because i'm NEVER going to look like her!

WRATH
Aka "Hating - and hiding - your figure"
Everyone has hangups about parts of their bodies. Susannah recommends you identify your shape and dress accordingly. Looking stylish is as much about knowing what not to wear as knowing what suits you. Eg cropped jackets leave a thick waist exposed. Opt for a tailored waist instead.
~
I admit this is painfully obvious with a large bust. You just have to give up on lots of pretty tops and dresses if they can't accommodate a bra strap. For me this concept is crystallised in the shunning of "in" fashion when it doesn't suit you at all. Just because skinny jeans are in, doesn't mean all body shapes can wear them (or should!)

GREED
aka "Growing out of your clothes - but refusing to admit it"
Fitting into a size 10 in one shop doesn't mean you;ll be the same size in another so swallow you pride and opt or a bigger fit if necessary. Trinny says a tiny top won't make you look smaller, if will do nothing except highlight every fold of fat on your body, front and back.
~
I have probably been guilty of this, but then, who can afford to replace all their clothes all the time? We just hope we'll fit back into them eventually! I suppose the practical lesson here is not to wear the clothes in the mean time!

GLUTTONY
aka "Cramming your cupboards with too many clothes"
Five identical black skirts are no use if you have nothing to go with them. Trinny suggests sorting your wardrobe each season and listing anything that's missing. Keep that list in your handbag and it will help you focus when you're shopping.
~
I am totally guilty of this one. I have so many clothes its ridiculous. M often jokes to our friends that of the two full length wardrobes in our unit, he has 1/4 of ONE of them, and I have the rest (disgustingly only a slight exaggeration).
My mother gave me a good tool once, (she'd do well to employ it in her own wardrobe) that goes even beyond Trinny's suggestion above. At the end of each season, go through your wardrobe and everything you didn't wear that season, throw out/give to Vinny's. Obviously you didn't choose to wear it at some point in those six months for a reason, so get rid of it.
Another way to keep on top of this method in your hanging space is to line up all your clothes, and as you wear them/wash/rehang, hang at the far right. Soon all the clothes you never wear will be languishing down the left side, and as before, at end-of-season, throw them away.
I definitely do the cull at end of season, you can even give the bags to friends before Vinny's to see if they want anything, but often the things I get rid of are so awful I can't bear to show them to people!!

LUST
aka "Discarding anything without a designer label"
Designer clothes are fun in moderation, but when the latest sunglasses, trainers, hat and coat are worn en masse it becomes too much. Clothes should revea your own personal "flair and individuality" - not someone else's, even if they are a famous fashion designer.
~
I honestly could not name a single girl/guy I know that would do this. Hell I hardly know anyone that could claim more than a single "designer" item, so this seems ridiculous.

SLOTH
aka "Slipping into sloppy dressing habits"
Chipped nail polish, dirty or broken fingernails and messy hair are the three biggest culprits when it comes to sloppy dressing. Trinny warns that these  small details make a difference - especially to employers.
~
Hmm, this one seems to be stretching the "sins" theme a bit. I don't really look to Trinny & Susannah for work habit tips either...

PRIDE
aka "Leaving nothing to the imagination"
Just because you've got it doesn't mean you have to flaunt it. Too-revealing clothes are a common fashion crime.
~
Agreed.

Why care What Not To Wear

I don't watch "What not to wear" by Trinny and Susannah. I'll say that first off.

What I don't understand though, if why ANYONE would listen to them, as they go out themselves in some atrocious gear!
1 ~ Perfectly nice grey suit, if a little too flared in the pant, but with a PRINT DRESS over the top!
Green dress over white shirt. Not the end of the world, but just not neccessary!
2 ~ Solo Trinny, in her best impersonation of an Irish Tablecloth. See here for larger image. You'll also find the green is sequinned!
3 ~ I think this is meant to be a promo image. As such, I can only assume that Trinny is "What NOT, and Susannah is "What TO". Honestly, I love hot pink more than most, but even I don't go around shoving it under leopard print and expect a good result! Susannah is making her look like a teenager run amok in Supre.

4 ~ These are all the wonder full Trinny. Playing Beattie Bow??
5 ~ A taffeta creation, in a homage to M*A*S*H- for that formal event in the Mess Hall. Leave your weapons at the door; they ruin the line of the gown.
6 ~ Red sack? Hey, its ok, we all have fat days sometimes.

*Scream* Get them off Tv! How can they be advising anyone!

Crazy Japanese shoes

Got an email forward from my mum today with some crazy shoes which are apparently all the rage in Japan: ** Fetish Shoes - See update at bottom
(These are actually kind of awesome, and I wants them. At least, the part of me that is none-too-concerned about falling flat on my face every three steps, wants them. My pride is calling out for some respect though)

These remind me of these Balenciaga shoes Rihanna wore

I don't know whether they're real shoes for sale, I can only guess by the style of the shots that they are. I've spoken before on my hate of unsubstantiated emails being sent around, and investigation of this finds no obvious "these shoes aren't real" claims.

They have featured on a few shoe blogs however, where I also found these gems to the left. They almost look like the formal shoe for the dedicated ballerina.

M's godson, Ryder
(yeah ok this seems random in the middle of a post about shoes, but go with me)
is walking around now, as children at 18 months old are prone to do. The weird thing is though, that one of his feet he walks with his toes all curled over. You've seen those ballet movies like Centre Stage (did you know that was written by Judy Nunn aka Ailsa from Home and Away?) where you see the obligatory shot of them bending their toes right over "warming up". Like that. I'm intrigued as to what it means.

I also found this shot, from The Shoe Blog contributor jitterbugbaby on a holiday IN Japan. While this is possibly the fuggiest look in the world, I do LOVE these shoes (you probably need to click through to see them better).
She also saw this awesome pair of heels with JEWELRY for Shoes! Does it get any better?

As you can imagine, the Google Image Search of "Crazy Japanese Shoes" yeilds plenty of material of a meaningful nature, as well as batshit-crazy. But I will leave you with these wonderful images, of which I also cannot verify their authenticity, but if true, are enough to turn your stomach.

**UPDATE
As it has been drawn to my attention that these are actually fetish shoes, I found that "ballet boots" even have their own Wiki article.
Indeed the article tells us-
Ballet boots and shoes are not, however, intended for prolonged standing or walking. Instead, they act as a fetish object for sexual gratification, heightening the erotic appeal with the elements of bondage and submission. They are thus sometimes used in BDSM play. For example, someone may be put in predicament bondage by being placed in suspension bondage arranged so that he or she must either hang by the arms or rest all of the body's weight on the toes. The boots, however, can cause enough discomfort by themselves: shortly after they are donned, the calves often begin to cramp and sting from overexertion if the wearer is not used to them. International Fetish Model Charlotte Brooke has walked around at FetishCon (a bondage and fetish convention) for a full 9 hour day.

Well I thought we were dancing....but no....

The Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance had its finale on Sunday night (27.04). A special episode, 2 hour finale dotted with dance routines and a rendition of Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis.
We watch CSI normally on Sunday night, cutting directly in the middle of the finale. We decided to tape the last hour of Dance, and watch it after CSI. All going to plan until CSI finishes and we go to flip over to Dance.....and discover that we haven't been taping after all.....

*scream*

I tried to be nonchalant, I tried not to let it bother me. What's done is done.

I was spectacularly unsuccessful and have been pouting ever since.

Missed the Leona Lewis song, which I heard people raving about on the radio the next day. Felt like the DJ's knew I'd missed it and were rubbing it in my face.

Rove, after the announcement, raved about the dancing before the announcement.

Missed the "eviction" of one of the girls I wanted to win.
Shit all round really.

I was devastated that Jack won. SO BORING!
The last two American series have been won by carbon copies of Jack, and its always two boys in the last two. Stupid tweeny girls voting. Bah
And did anyone see what the fug Natalie Bassingthwaite was wearing at the after event when she performed on Rove? After considerable effort to bring you this photo in case you missed it-

Some sort of hideous sparkly dress with a white leather wide belt, with buckles at front. Ghastly!?! She looked lovely for the Dance show, a black feathery cocktail dress, quite cute. (you can find that one yourself on the Dance website, or you can see a snippet on the left in the Jack pic)

So, like I said, I just couldn't let this slide.

In my dreams, you looked better than this...

who didn't love Vanessa Amorosi at the 2000 Olympics? She was great. She had a great voice even though she was only 13-14***, and she was managed well I think at the time, better than say, Nikki Webster.
Now?? I'm not such a fan

This is her latest single Perfect, which you may or may not have heard, and the video which you may or may not have seen.
I personally hate it. I didn't like it too much to begin with, and now, having watched it a bunch of times at the gym, I've grown to loathe how she looks in it.
I love desert scenes usually, like Delta's video for "Believe Again". But its not all encompassing, I hate "Outta my Head" by Ashlee Simpson, which has a lot of desert in it. (The tiny top hat? The stupid two looks? The ridiculous song: You tube has the names listed as "outta my head - ay ya ya ya ay". Awesomeness-blegh)

I think V.Am looks alien in this video. The wig and the beginning outfit are awful.
The chainmail LOTR dress at the end is horrid looking on her too. The close ups on her face are doing he no favours either.
*sigh*
Video aside, I think it would make a good wedding song though, being that its about partners beig perfect.

shoe fug. So bad

shoe fug. So bad, originally uploaded by dataceptionist.

If its difficult to see, these are gold thongs, but with covered heels with a zip at the back.
Oh god, such fug, I was so distraught to think I wouldn't get a picture, but it was ok, *phew*
I was actually sitting at footy today, on a balcony nowhere near this girl, but thanks to the trusty Nokia N95 and the zoom I discovered (I couldn't find it intially and the non-zoomed pic was woefully inadequate) I can share with you, the ridiculousness of this shoe. I mean, what did she pay for them? Why Gold?
Bizarre.

Fug Madness has crowned its queen

That woman, is Bai Ling. I love bat shit crazy Bai Ling, as previously covered, I'm so pleased she won. Yay.
Below, a tribute of fug, there's some sort of in joke with the music, I think it would have lent itself well to the Chariots of Fire song.

Its a touch long, but worth it.
Also, for those of you dying to read her blog, see -> Hello.
Very strange reading.

There's no hope now.

They've mated. Crocs and uggs, and the Crugg is born. May god save our souls.

I can't say I thank Mia for bringing this to our attention, but at least now we know and can defend ourselves appropriately. Arm yourselves girls, grab every Blahnik and Choo in the house and lock your doors. They are coming.

Fugfessions Part II

Oh no!
I was so pleased to see the first outfit, but this is horrendous!
It is, (for those of you like me who don't recognise the actress at all) Isla Fisher! In another costume for the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. I mean, I don't even know where to start.
When they featured this on fug, it started as an April Fool's joke with The Nose (aka Sarah Jessica Parker) photoshopped face on the head. I can actually see the hideousness being worn by her. The mustard! Ick! The Gold stacked shoes! Ick! The Pink skirt teamed with reddish top! Ick! The glimpse of a different shade of red in the handbag! Ick! THE GREEN BELT!!!Ick! Ick!
*faint*
You cut me deep Isla, you cut me real deep. After Eca was only just singing your praises. You should be ashamed.
Or at least have a greater say in costuming.

..what bugs me? Not being able to vote in Fug Madness!!!

One of my favourite websites, Go Fug Yourself, is running this hilarious voting poll called Fug Madness that mirrors one of their sporting events (who cares which one really). All I know is that the tier system is really weird, but I've given up seeking to understand it.
Anyway because its American with the time delay, at the end of the week and over the weekend I don't get to vote at all. I know I could log on over the weekend but of course I never think of it, and at the same time I've always tried to save up the fug over the weekend so i can look at work.
*sigh*
I just wish they'd keep the voting open a little longer :(Bai Ling, for me, the patron saint of Fug. She's up to Top 16, and I hope she makes it all the way.

Can't dance a different way.....

Ricki Lee Coulter's new song and video "Can't sing a different Song" has me feeling "Can't Act a Different Way" and "Can't Appeal to Wider Audience".
In a music video that I find echoes her last one, I think she looks terrible! She's wearing essentially the same thing, a spangly dress and big dangly gold earrings, except she looked TEN times better in the first video, where she wears black, this dress in gold, not flattering.
Here is the newest one

And the older one, which I actually really liked, and even had a little storyline

Toward the end of the latest video she changes into a black & dull gold tight dress, and looks like she's wearing fat-suckin underpants underneath. Which in itself, is fine of course (hell I have fat-suckin underpants myself that get an occasional airing) but as someone once said to me, where does the fat go? In this case? Straight to her hips. This dress looks shocking on her!
"Can't sing a different Song" also features lots of striding purposefully from the back of the dance group to the front, boobs jiggling. Her dancing in this one is pathetic. I think they need to hire a different artistic director for her next video.

Fugfessions of me

Ok, so they Fugged this dress today on Isla Fisher. And I must say I know its extrememly kooky, and a costume for her new Movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic, but I really like it! I will Disclaimer this by saying I do NOT like the snow leopard shoulder shrug, and I could give the gloves a miss, except I think they dress would look even kookier without them. Perhaps have them in pink!?
I will also interject here that I really like how Isla Fisher looks here, admittedly Wedding Crashers replayed on tv the other night, and who doesn't love her character in that. Anyone anyone? I hear nothing, ok accepted, Gloria is hilariously loveable. Motion Passed.

I don't often disagree with the Fug gurls, but sometimes, I just have to say, NO. As in, NO I DO like this outfit.
Which brings me to my secret.

Every year the Oscars roll around and they do "Best Dresses of the Oscars" and "Worst dresses of the Oscars" for all previous years. Every year without fail, on the Worst dressed list, Bjork's Swan dress makes an appearance, with a mention of the egg-bag.

{But I've always liked this dress!}
I know its weird and when she "layed" her egg it was bizarre and everything, but I've just always liked it!
*shame*
Maybe I'm losing my taste?

Idol-phile

Is it just me, or does Kyle look like a lecherous old guy in both these photos? Its almost like he's trying to do a cool head wobble photo-still equivalent. Creepy! Either that, or someone at some point has told him "you look great, hold that pose".
Except its a joke Kyle.
I'm sure the irony of the pairing is not lost on them either (you'd hope). She's only famous because of a Reality TV search for a Singer, and he breaks dreams every day he's a judge on Australian Idol. Rest of the Gallery here.
***disclaimer: I watch Idol, and frequently listen to the Kyle & Jackie O Show on 2DayFM. I do actually like Kyle.***

Oh dear god, sheild mein eyes!

The new Spice Girls video, if you haven't seen it.
Why on earth are they all writhing around in their underwear??? This song is supposedly about friendship and yet they're all getting their gear off, and simpering at the camera. It all takes a weird Left turn after Geri comes on the screen wearing only her bra and undulating her abs, as if we really need to see that. There's group shots with erupting breasts, like some sort of sickening pillow fight, sans pillows.

Posh is sitting in this weird stripper pose with her legs spread on a chair, wearing some weird fetish pvc bondage strapping, and looking more and more like the over priced china doll she's become. Just when they could have exploited a real opportunity for her to dispel the long-held theory that she was nothing but a pretty face, she simply gets her gear off and pretends she's singing along!

The whole video is this bizarre orgiastic fest, and it was only a morbid fascination that kept me watching. Sporty looked like a lawyer the whole time, beign the only one not to get her cans out.

Every heartbeat bears your name...

Loud and clear they stake my claim- yeah!
my red blood runs true blue-
and ev-ery heart-beat belongs to you!

I cannot tell you how excited I was to see Amy Grant on fug today. I mean I wasn't excited she was being fugged, I was just excited to see her anywhere!
See in year four my primary school did some sort of performance where every year had to do something, and our year had a dance to Amy Grant's song, "Every HeartBeat". It was an odd arrangement, someone decided it would be a great idea to make a routine using these weird red rubber balls, smaller than a soccer ball, and the sequence involved bouncing them on your knees and passing the ball around your waist. Then the rest of us stood in a semi circle at the back with these large cardboard posters with brightly coloured hearts, moving them in time with the music. You wonder where people come up with these ideas really.
I found out many years later (I think I also owned the whole album on cassette) that she was a Christian singer, sometimes referred to as Christian Music's First Lady, which probably made it all the more bizarre that our year did a performance to the song.

Fug in the City

This outfit, case in point for why I hate SJP, and why I think everyone is mental when they rave on about her style. This is clearly fug, which is where I found it, and I think she is far from the style icon she is lauded.
*stomp*

Eddie Murphy father of Scary child

Eddie Murphy has apparently been DNA tested for the paternity of Scary Spice's baby daughter, and confirmed that yes, he went there.

In other Spicy news, the 90'd girl group has sparked speculation they will be reforming by calling a press conference next week.

Somehow though I can't imagine "Lady Posh"taking such a backward step as would necessitate her rejoining the group. She has a sweet life now, and everyone knows she was the one who couldn't sing! Although she has apparently recorded a new single.
Listen to a sneak preview HERE. Eek.

Looking at this though, is the world really ready for Spice Girls again?

I wanna really really really wanna zig a zig ahhhh....

Oh God-I know Bai Ling (sort of)

While some may see it as laziness, I see it as being completely in tune. And also, I don't have the time to devote to research and meaningless surfing for potentially interesting posts.
So ner.

The Fug Girls have found an awesome addendum to my earlier comments about Bai Ling in Cannes. Hilarious. And Riona, I have IMDBed for your convenience- See here for Bai Ling
OMG. Stop the Press.
I have just discovered in my {meagre} research that Bai Ling is actually an actress I know. In the way that you "know" anyone in any of your favorite movies.
Bai Ling is actually the cool Asian girl in The Crow! Sister to the baddie."....I Like the pretty lights....."
Oh God, I'll never look at her the same again now.....

Also from Fug
"And also, can we discuss how scarring it must have been for Mary-Kate Olsen to see her not-technically-identical-but-who-are-we-kidding-they-look-almost-exactly-alike twin sister ranking at No. 37, while she herself was left off entirely?"
Hahahahaha hilarious and well spotted. Fug Shame.
